Customer Review: Really Attractive Lamp for a Small Price

After looking for weeks for an attractive lamp that was fairly small but still used a 3-way bulb up to 150 watts, I was amazed to find this one. Money was not really an issue, but when I saw this for such a low price, I was surprised. The size and color were perfect. I took a chance, ordered it, and was very pleased when it arrived. It has an expensive, elegant look. The only reason it did not rate 5 stars is that the shade had a stitching flaw; however, I was able to turn it so that you don't notice it. The lamp has garnered many compliments, and no one has a clue how little it cost or that it did not come from an up-scale store!

Customer Review: Antique copper-Finish Table Lamp

There are pretty lamps for the price. I guess this is the first time I bought something on line without a really clear idea of the product. I thought the lamp would be taller and bigger, although it is OK as a desk lamp, but the ones I had before were definitely larger. Also. although I do not like bright lights, the lamps are really dim unless one puts a high wattage bulb. I read the instructions and indeed one should not put a large bulb (regardless of wattage) in it because it comes to close to the fabric. I did put a smaller bulb, but I am thinking about getting a small "clear one" and of higher wattage to see if the result is brighter. Still as I say, these are pretty lamps especially if they are not the only source of lighting for a room. Oh, and they are indeed easy to put together.

The filter lasts for about two weeks, after which it turns completely useless: it stops soaking up water more than two inches from the bottom (the rest of it remaining dry as the Sahara desert), thereby rendering the humidifier totally useless at any speed. The cost of filters for a single season is more than the price of the humidifier itself.

Customer Review: The Spirit of the "Wood!"

I've read the other reviews. From 2 star to 5 star they say it all! What can I add? "Norm" is a practical "New Yankee." Watched him grow from working with Bob Villa to his multiple projects and present ease of construction. Like some of the reviewers I was looking for more of that. What I found was more. "Impractical Cabinetmaker" is far from my learning from PBS. It was a shocker, and a mover. I have been making things in wood since I was told by my dad, "If I show you how to use the tools and I give you your own, will you stay out of my toolshed?" I live in a remote area, and the woodworkers I've found are a solitary bunch of "individuals" who would rather do than talk. With this book I became Mr. Krenov's temporary apprentice. With words he gives a feel for being "in woodworking!" For me words are important, for other woodworkers they are not. I've had the book and read it twice, about 3 years apart. It is not a book about "what we do" but "why we do it!" Other books are more factual, more practical. This one is spiritual!

Customer Review: Didn't match the hype.

I just didn't like this book. Way too much new age "fluffy" stuff, not enough meat. I didn't even like the furniture the guy built - just didn't fit my style. I expected to like this book a lot more given its reviews - should have paid attention to some of the more negative reviews I guess. I certainly was not "inspired".



Of course, I do not consider myself an artist either - I hack stuff together, trying to follow good plans where I can. My stuff turns out OK, but I have no asperations of making a work of art. Those with different goals may find more value in this. I don't have much interest in creating something new from scratch, an 'original' composition.

Susan Oroyan has done an excellent work. I bought both of her books "Designing the Doll" and "Finishing the Figure" If you own one of the books, you have to own the other one, they go together. The books have a great deal of information and details on doll making. The book is good for beginners or professional doll makers.You will love it.
